Clinical Signs

Generally small tumors but biological product of the tumor I.e., insulin, is potent!

Diagnostic Plans
CBC, chemistry and urinalysis usually normal, EXCEPT for a low blood glucose concentration

If not an insulinoma, serum insulin should be low for a hypoglcemic patient

Medical Management

rarely used - Islet toxic drugs (streptozotocin,)

Prognosis
-
-
Combinations of surgery and medical management may allow survivals up to 1- 3 years or more ocassionally , especially if stage I (no mets) or sometimes stage II (lymph nodes only)
