General Information
- A list of pre-set questions
- Often same questions on each one
- Used to collect large scale data (Postal Questionnaires)
- Should be kept simple to read
- Use a pilot questionnaire to clear up any mistakes

- Clear, making it easy for respondent
- Start with short questions
- Alternate between answers so correct information is gained
- Minimum questions asked
Questions
- Simple and direct
- Phrased with neutral words so there isn't a chance of persuasion
- Avoid offensive questions
Confidentiality
- Respondent should be reassured that their answers will not be shared

Positivist based questionnaires (high standard - risk of imposition - opposing own view on another persons answer
- Affects validity making it difficult to draw a hypothesis
Validity
No guarantee of the truth
- May give results that are 'socially accepted'
- 1983 public concerns about children viewing graphic videos (40% of 6 year olds had seen nasties and then 68% of 11 year old had - but given fake film names)
