Who controls the Internet?
-No one it is a public, cooperative, and independent network
-Several organizations set standards
Access Provider - An access provider is a business that provides access to the internet free or for a fee.
Main types of service provider:
ISP (Internet Service Provider) – is a regional or national access provider.
OSP (Online Service Provider) – provides internet access in addition to members-only features.
(WISP) Wireless Internet Service Provider – provides wireless internet access to desktop and notebook computers with built-in wireless capabilities or using wireless modem or wireless access device.
World Wide Web (WWW) - A worldwide collection of electronic documents. Each electronic document is called a Web page. Can contain text, graphics, audio, video, and built-in connections. A Web site is a collection of related Web pages.

- Program that allows you to view: Web pages

-The first page that a Web site displays
-Often provides connections to other Web pages

-The process of a computer receiving information
-Depending upon connection speed, downloading can take from a few seconds to several minutes
