Check that the safety signs for the service lift and the emergency control unit are complete

  1. Check all anchorage points for damage and deformation.
  2. Check that all anchorage points are tightly fastened.
  3. Check that the “Safety harness mandatory action sign” pictogram is affixed next to the anchorage points.
  1. If a safety guard is fitted, perform a visual inspection of the safety guard in the lift cage.
  2. If a safety guard is fitted, check the safety guard for damage, missing parts and proper fit.
  3. If a captive locking device is fitted, check the captive locking device for damage, missing parts and proper fit
  4. If a safety guard is fitted, remove the safety guard.
  5. Check the deflection sheaves for damage and smooth operation.
DANGER! Do not reach into cable guides or deflection sheaves!
  6. Move the service lift up and down by about 30 cm. In doing so, check if the steel cables chafe against the deflection sheaves or jump off the deflection sheaves.
  7. If a safety guard is present then re-install the safety guard.

Checking cable guide

Check the cable guides and supports for damage and deformation.

  1. Make sure the entire crossbeam in the lift cage and the fasteners are properly secured.
  2. Perform a visual inspection of the crossbeam and the fasteners for corrosion, cracks and missing parts.
  3. Renew the corrosion protection with zinc spray if corrosion is visible.
  1. Check that the rope weights or hoist cable tensioning device and the safety cable are securely mounted.
  2. If rope weights are installed, check that the rope weights can turn freely.
  3. Check if the steel cable ends have been coiled up and fastened.
  4. Check the hoist cable and safety cable at the hoist touchdown platform for damage.
  5. If the cable guides lead through openings, check that edge protection tubing has been fitted and the cables do not chafe.
