Concept 3 Ismail Azmy
Find "M"
Rise
To find the rise of a Graph, You have to Find a two points on the line, that are on exac integers. Then find exactly how much higher or lower the other point is.
-
Run
To find the run, you go to the same Y axis as the point on top and the same x axis as the point on the bottom, and count how many numbers it takes to go to the second points Y axis.
-
-
To find the final slope, and "M" you need to divide the rise by the run. So the equation to find the slope, or "M" is Rise/Run
Types of slopes
-
-
-
Undefined
In an undefined slope, it is when a slope is going straight down
-
-
Writing An equation
Now that you understand "M" and "B", you can now write the equation of the slope.
-
For Example the Equation for this line would be y=1x-1, because The slope of it is +1, ad the y intercept is-1
-
Find "B"
B=Y-intercept
To find the Y intercept you need to Find the point where the line goes through the Y axis. This is where the Points would be (0,b). b being where the Line passes through the Y axis.

Slope Formula
-
-
Calculating the slope formula has a special equation. this equation is y2-y1/x2-x1. subtracting y2 and y1 gives you the vertical change, and subtraction x2 and x1 gives you the horizontal change. the reason the y's are the numerator is because you always want the rise on top and with this equation the y controls the rise and the x controls the run.
Y=MX+B
To find the slope using y=mx+b all you need to do is find the m, which is the slope, But in most cases you'll need the slope to find the equation , this is why this is not the most effective method.
-
-
Rise/Run
To find the slope another method is the rise/run. to find the rise over run, you need to find two points on the line.
-
-
after finding the two points on the graph you need to rise until you are on the second(heigher) points y axis, you have to find the run, move and count how many moves you more until you are on the same point. then you have your rise and your run.
to actually find the slope itself, you need to divide your rise by your run. then you have your slope and are ready to start making equations with your lins.
Concept 4 By Seif
-
The slope is the number that is before the x in the equation and it is labeled m, the slope is basically the rise and run
Run is basically moving horizontally whether you move right or left determines if the run is negative. When you go to the right the run is positive but the run becomes negative when you move to the left. In the rise and run fraction the run is the denominator
-
-
Rise is how many steps you move up or down from point to point. When you move up the rise is positive but when you move down the rise is negative. The rise is the numerator when it comes to the fraction of rise and run.
-
Formula
-
-
An example of a formula:
The formula is y=mx+b, m is the slope also known as the rise and run, b is the y-intercept which is the point on the graph where the slope and the y-axis touch, and the y is representing the whole slope and is what determines of the slope will look like in the end; the m is multiplied by the x.
