To vary or not to vary...
The UK is Europe's third vegetarian country. Switzerland is second and Italy is first.
But some vegetarians do more. They become vegan. They don't eat any food from animals: they eat no eggs, milk or honey for example.
This happens for two reasons:
for their health
to avoid harming animals in any way.
Vegetarian and vegan diets are not only common diet restrictions in multi-ethnic Britan.
Some religions have diet restriction:
Jews don't eat any pork
Hindus don't eat any beef
Muslims don't eat any pork
Some restrictions are necessary.
Some people can't eat any food because of intolerances or allergies.
Labels now mention some risky ingredients:
dairy products
gluten
nuts
Perhaps we are saying good bye to one varied diet and hello to a range of new diets:
ethics-conscious restricted diets
health-conscious
