To achieve a goal there are many things that can be done. Let's make a list and see.
To go to work (that would be our goal) what can we do:
• Prepare our breakfast
• Go out and buy our breakfast
• Have breakfast
• Clean up
• Dress
• Collect our things
• Leave the house
• Take a bus
• Take a taxi
• Go in your own car
• Ask someone you know to take us
• Go walking, etc.
Actually, what we are doing is brainstorming. Everything that occurs to us we must write it down.
As crazy or expensive as something may seem, it could be the solution we so desperately need.
It is advisable to gather a certain team of members of the company, commission, school or organization, propose the goal that you want to achieve and ask them for ideas to achieve that goal.
Do not attack any idea, least of all its proponent. Write everything down, either on a board or on a piece of paper. Write, don't criticize.
Criticizing kills good ideas before they are said.
Idea killers don't make companies grow, they stagnate them.
Your responsibility for the moment is to collect ideas.
This is not the time to select or evaluate, just to collect ideas.
Get out of your office, go to a park for a walk, stroll through a mall, have lunch at a different restaurant, visit businesses other than yours, get out of your “habitat”. This way you will find new ideas and be able to innovate.
Take your time in this part, but don't make it too long. And remember to write down everything you find, that memory is not the best friend of innovation.
Chosen Tasks
From the list of possible tasks we have to choose which ones we will carry out. Suppose you are a teacher and you want to organize a Math week at your school.
Together with his department, he generated a list of tasks that they could do during that week: contest of this, of that, exhibition of this or that thing, and so on. Now you will have to choose what is and what is not.
You may even decide to do it all. That depends on you.
To choose the tasks, we must base ourselves on the resources we have (see Unit 3 of this module.) And on the objectives we are pursuing.
We have to be clear that we are at point A and that we want to go to point B.
