The current modern designs for jar openers on the market are very similar in 2 aspects, these being the hand grips and the ergonometrics of the products to fit an average sized human hand
The grips of the product are a very useful piece of the product and is something that I could use for the design of my product, the grips help alot with the function of the product, the material of the grips on these products are Latex/Natural Rubber

This product has a very good but simple design that would help alot with the target market im hitting, there is a lock built in so that when the cutters are in the material of the can helps it lock in place so that all is needed to do after is twist the design
However there is one problem with this design, the handle is very small and would need a lot of finger strength for the cutters to actually work, this cant be used for my target market, I would need a larger handle.
Tin/Can opener

With my research I found that there are not many different types of hand help tin can openers on the market, they all have a very similar design and size mainly to fit the average human hand and to have enough length to support the need of enough strength to open the tin can
The image above is one of the only designs I found were the blades of the design are more covered from the consumer and this will help alot with the safety of the product when the target market im aiming for uses the product

The material for the product above is stainless steel which is very good for the maintenance of the product just like mild steel, stainless steel is a very good rust resistant material perfect for a long lasting product life and cleaning.
Multi-Tool

There are not many multi tool products on the market for kitchen use, this gives me more room for combinations on what functions my product can be used for which can also help my target market more making the product for more specific uses
With my product I hope to have 2 main functions, ie for opening jars and bottles or opening tin cans and bottles.

Bottle Openers
Majority of newly designed bottle openers are produced in mild steel, this helps with the lifespan and maintenance with mild steal being a very non corrosive material perfect for being cleaned in the dishwasher with the other kitchen utensils
The product i am designing will be larger than the product in the image, as i will be including another purpose to the design. If I was to improve this design I could extend the handle so that it was easier to use and not relying on the users thumb strength.

With the image above I would make some improvements to it, the overall design is smaller than what my product needs to be, the handle is thinner which will not help with dexterity in elderly hands. The product is also a one function design.
