Use of free time
There is time for study, work, productive activities, food and rest. And also, free time.
Free time is a need that all human beings have. The realization of recreational and amusement activities allows the integral development and socializing.
In addition, it makes our body refresh and gather energy for work and study.
We will see, the importance of free time and we will see how we have fun, identify ourselves individually and in front of others.

The fun of Ecuador
Our fun and leisure activities are not the same. They are according to our interests, tastes, and passage of time.
There are differences marked by age, sex, regional origin and economy. However, there are equally shared diversions.
In earlier times, on weekends, people used to go out of the city to walk or play sports.
But it has varied between strolling to places away from the noise, visiting shopping malls and places of recreation and food.
In our country, middle and popular class families frequent shopping malls for shopping, entertainment and strolling.
Popular entertainment
Popular festivities are our national identity. There are moments where the whole community is involved; such as the Año Viejo or Carnival.
Festivals are not only fun but also a collective religious ritual. The patron saint festivities are very important for Afro-Ecuadorian mestizos.
The urban centers keep alive the traditional religious festivities, games, contests, presentations of artists, dances and songs.

Outdoor games.
Previously, children would play in the school and streets, with friends; games like hopscotch, tug-of-war, marbles, and wooden car races.
Now these have been taken over by television and video games. At recess: the ball game, and some outdoor games, subsist in rural areas

Having fun together
The forms of recreation that we have pointed out are not exclusive to our people, there is an element that characterizes us: reciprocity.
We like to have fun together to strengthen family and friendship ties. In other societies individualism prevails over the interests of the community.

Adult Recreation
Adults also have fun and leisure with some specificities. The practice of some sport in free time is a very important leisure activity.
In the cities it is common to practice gymnastics, jogging, running in the mornings, volleyball, basketball and soccer during the weekend.
In addition to sports, card games are common, to maintain the bonds of fraternity and friendship.
