Performance

Accompanied by music led by the Shamisen,
a traditional Japanese instrument, and singers.
One person voices the characters
and narrates the story, hence they
must have a lot of vocal range.
The main puppeteer controls the head and right hand,
whilst two others are responsible for the body.
The two others are dressed in all black.
Bunraku and Kabuki theatre often have similar stories,
which are typically love stories or epics.
Movement

Very life-like movements,
since there are puppeteers for each limb.
