Preoperative: At the time of diagnosis, the patient requires education and emotional support. Focus education on the cause of the disease, the prescribed medical regimen and preparation for surgery
Postoperative: Elevated the patient's head to facilitate breathing and fluid drainage. Do not encourage the patient to cough, as this interferes with the healing of the operative site

Pathophysiology:
Gigantism and acromegaly are usually caused by a pituitary adenoma that secretes excessive amounts of growth hormone (GH); rarely, they are caused by non-pituitary tumors that secrete growth hormone–releasing hormone (GHRH). Gigantism occurs if GH hypersecretion begins in childhood, before closure of the epiphyses.
