What is Animation?
Act of making something alive
Concerned with visual or aesthetic aspect of project
Animation = object moving across, into and out of screen
Two (2) categories for animation
Traditional: Drawn by hand
Computer graphic: Use computer to create animation
Three (3) animation techniques
Cell animation: come from the clear celluloid sheets for drawing the object or character on each frame to create a movement.
Page flipping: Drawn on every pages. When the pages flipped quickly, the drawing seem to move
Rotoscoping: technique that animators trace over footage, frame by frame, for use in live-action and animated films.
Advantages of animation
Increase retention
Allow visualization, concept, etc to be imagined
Attract attention
Disadvantages of animation
Need special equipment
Cannot present like video on photo
Need more memory and storage

.swi: Swish animation
