Documenting Instruction
When documentation is tied to the teacher's appraisal, regardless of the rating, that rating needs to be supported by some data and shared with the teacher.
Any documentation that will influence the teacher's summative annual appraisal report must be shared in writing with the teacher within 10 working days.
Your ability to write effective documentation related to instruction is directly related to your ability to gather objective information in the teacher's classroom.

Conflict
-
Some kinds of conflict can contribute immeasurably to the health and well-being of the organization.
No matter what the conflict, it can be managed in such a way that losses are minimized and gains maximized.
The principal must attend to the process, the content of the agreement, and to how the parties feel about the "solution" to the conflict.
Grievances
A grievance is a complaint usually filed by a teacher or group of teachers alleging a violation of the collectively bargained contract between the teachers' union and district.
The grievance procedure must be seen by the principal as a reasonable way to solve a problem rather than as a threat to the principal's ability to lead.
Compensation
The principal's role in compensation programs is minimal. Nevertheless, the principal should have a general understanding of the salary schedule and the benefits program in order to provide assistance, which must be confirmed by the district office staff.
