A Global Conflict
The Allies Win The War
-
With a shortage of food and fuel, that made Czar Nicholas to step down.
With a new provisional government in place, Russia still pledged to continue the war.
This became a bad decison when nearly 5.5 million Russian soldiers were wounded, killed, or taken prisoner. The Russian army was getting tired of war and refused to fight any longer.
November 1917, eight months after the new government took over, Communist leader Vladimir Ilyich Lenin seized power.
His first plan was to remove Russia's involvement in the war. This was solved by Russia and Germany signing the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk in March 1918.

With Russia out of the war, Germany saw this as an opportunity to send their whole army to attack France.
Germany attacks got to the point that they were less than 40 miles away from Paris. The downside was their troops were exhausted as well as their supplies.
Germany wasn't ready for the United States as the allies attacked them with around 350 tanks and the help of 140,000 fresh american troops added to what they already had.
Two million more American troops came and the war began to switch as they were advancing towards Germany.
Change: This fits with the concept change because the war changed big time when the momentum changed as they were now heading for Germany instead of being pushed back.

Submarine Warfare
The Zimmerman Note came into play, stating the Germany would help Mexico "conquer" the land it has lost to the U.S.
This was the last straw. In 1917, the U.S. entered war against Germany, on the side of the Allies.
Germany went back to submarine warfare, knowing a war may break out with the U.S.
