the legacy of the war

More deaths than any other war, the flu, starvation, and war killed demolished an entire generation of people.

Economic impact
Farm lands, homes, and whole towns were destroyed, costing europe nearly 400 billion dollars
What strategies new to World War I probably contributed to the destruction of homes, villages and farms?
Trench warfare destroyed land, mortars did as well. Tanks could destroy cities, and overall the new ways of war can ruin towns faster than ever before.
Personal Impact
People were left scared and broken, and art of the time was dark and war ridden.
Why might Westerners have experienced disillusionment in the wake of World War I?
The western people had thought that once the war was over, peace would begin and things would be okay again. This did not happen as the germans were as angry as ever and the great depression was about to start.
Peace
Peace agreements made the average person feel safe, but made the germans more angry as the reparations were not able to ever be payed, and would ruin their economy worse than it already was
