HIV - Coggle Diagram

- - - - diffuse increase in CSF spaces from cerebral atrophy + vol loss
- - - - use of maternal, antenatal, perinatal, postnatal ART to achieve undetectable maternal viral load
      - avoid breast feeding
        
        formula feeding not safe in many parts of world - risk of gastroenteritis, malnutrition - continue breastfeeding + give ART
      - active management of labour + delivery (avoid prolonged ROM + unnecessary instrumentation)
      - pre-labour C section if mother's viral load detectable close to time of delivery
      - can reduce MTCT to <1%
- - - - get 2 -ve PCRs within 1st 3 mo of life or @ least 2 wks after completion of postnatal ART
