Intracranial Regulation: Hemorrhagic Stroke - Coggle Diagram
Intracranial Regulation: Hemorrhagic Stroke
Collaborative Treatment:
Discontinue any antiplatelet/ anticoagulation medications
IV Alteplase
Hypertonic saline to reduce the ICP
Pathophysiology:
Blood leakage from hemorrhage into brain
This causes edema as the cell membrane lets in more water, sodium, and calcium
Brain tissue is compressed and spasm of brain blood vessels occur
The intracranial hemorrhage compromises brain function when it becomes space-occupying
Lack of cerebral perfusion causes an infarction
Etiology: This included illicit drug use, brain trauma, cerebral aneurysms, and chronic hypertension.
Risk factors:
Hypertension
Increased age
Male gender
Illicit drug use
Signs and symptoms:
Vomiting
Headache
Facial droop
Loss of voluntary muscle control
Complications:
Death
Coma
Increased cranial pressure
Diagnostic/Lab Tests:
CT scan of brain
Cerebral angiography
Chemistry panel
