The United States worked closely and effectively to prevent communism spread in Guatemala and brought several military conflict to the surface.
The attempt in keeping Guatemala contained was successful however, it was destructive.
Panama
Panama is faced with U.S forces in 1918 to protect United Fruit plantations.
Cuba
Fidel Castro share close relations with the Soviet Union following after the revolution and visit to Havana.
The United States saw the Soviet and Cuba sugar oil exchange agreement as betrayal, and asked U.S. companies in Cuba not to refine the Soviet crude oil.
Castro declares Cuba a communist state in 1661 and his assignation is already put in to plan by the CIA.
U.S breaks off relations with Havana and imposes a trade in response to Castro's agreement with the USSR.
The School of America is opened in Panama in 1946, serving as a military school that taught an anti-communist curriculum.
Panama is urged by the U.S. to fight for their independence so they could acquire Panama canal rights.
Dominican Republic
U.S. marines occupy in the Dominican Republic and are in favor of Rafael Trujillo in 1916-1924.
Domican Republic is considered protectorate until 1941
The Dominican Republic faces brutal dictatorship under Trujillo in Latin American history. Trujillo's reign is known as the reign of terror where nearly 25,000 people were killed or disappeared by the state.
