Abnormal tissue, such as polyps, and tissue samples (biopsies) can be removed through the scope during the exam.

Pathophysiology: Colorectal cancer is a disease originating from the epithelial cells lining the colon or rectum of the gastrointestinal tract, most frequently as a result of mutations in the Wnt signaling pathway that increase signaling activity.
