OTIC DRUGS

PROLENSA

INDICATIONS ; For post operative inflammation, reduce ocular pains to patients who undergo cataract surgery

MECHANISM OF REACTION: it a non steroid anti-inflammatory drug, its inhibit the cyclooxygenase 1and 2

CONTRA INDICATIONS: Diabetic patients, epithelial keratopathy and pregnant patient must consult Doctor for advise because it is risky

ROUTE OF ADMINISTRATION: instill a drop into the affected eye

SIDE EFFECTS: watery eye, blurred vision, light sensitivity, eye pains and the feeling that there is a foreign object in the eye

STORAGE: it should be stored away from the direct light , in temperatures between 15 to 25 degrees celsius

HYDROCORTISONE

CONTR INDICATIONS: fungal infection, tuberculosis , viral skin lesions, serious infection

ROUTE OF ADMINISTRATIO: it applied topical, clean the area before applying the drug

INDICATINS: for both children and adults, apply topical product that they chose in an affected area as a film 2/3 times a day depending on the severity of the condinition

STORAGE: keep it in a room temperature, the solution is good for up to 3 days

MECHABNISM OF REACTION: it an adrenocortical steroid that inhibit the accumulation of inflammatory cells at the inflammation site, phagocytosis, lysosomal enzymes released immediator of inflammatory

SIDE EFFECTS: delay wound healing,irritation, burning of the ski , blistering, thining of the skin with easy bruising

DEXAMETHASONE

ROUTE OF ADMINISTRATION: it is administered intravenously and intramuscular injections

STORAGE: it should be stored in a cold dry place, away from direct light

INDICATIONS: bacterial infection with inflammation in a quot otitis medial and acute otitis externa

SIDE EFFECTS: irritation, blistering, redness & swelling around the mouth, burning of the skin and thining of the skin with easy bruising

MECHANISM OF REACTION: it is a corticosteroid flulorinated at a position of 9, used to treat endocrine ,rheumatic, drematology and allergiy

CONTRA INDICATIONS: active untreated systemic infection, fungal tuberculosis

OTOCAIN

CONTR INDICATION: it is hypersensitive to benzocaine or ester or type of local anasthetic perforated tympanic membrane

ROUTE OF ADMINISTRATIOM: It is for topical dermal use and make sure to clean the site before applying octacaine

INDICATION: adult and children older than two years instill 4-5 drops into external ear canal of the affected ear

STORAGE: it is flammable, do not use or store it near the fire or exposed heat

MECHANISM OF REACTION: it reduces the permability of resting nerves to potassium and sodium ion, it competes with the calcium ions for membrane blinding

SIDE EFFECTS: Angioedema, contact dermatitis, teste disorders, occasional burning

TOPICAL DRUGS

NAZENE Z NASAL SPRAY

CONTRAINDICATIONS: it is not for children under the age of 6 years

route of administration Spray in the nostrils

indications: for relief of nasal congestion accompanying acute colds, allergic, rhinitis, sinus and hay fever

STORAGE: Store in a cold place away from light

MECHANISM OF REACTION: It is a sympathomimetic with vasoconstrictors properties which affect rapid decongestant action mucous membranes of the resopharyngeal cavity

SIDE EFFECTS It can cause stinging, burning, sneezing, dryness, stuffy nose and muscle or joints pain

CHLORNICOL EYE OINMENT

CONTRAINDICATION: Patients with known sensitivity or toxic reaction to Chloramphenicol

ROUTE OF ADMINISTRATION: Apply direct into the eye

INDICATIONS: For acute or long term eye problem, eye infection, inflammatory conditions, soreness

STORAGE: store i a cold, dry place away from direct light or heat

MECHANISM OF REACTIONS: It contains hydrocortisone which is anti inflammatory corticosteroids that works by reducing swelling, treat and prevent eye infection, it also contains neomycin which are anti biotics that work by stopping growth of bacteria

SIDE EFFECTS: Temporary blurrered vision, burning, stinging or redness
