3) Has difficulty remembering and does not retain learned skills.
4) Low level speaking skills (not just in English but in Japanese as well.)

Have the parents advised the school of any special needs requirements? *Note: Due to cultural challenges parents can be reluctant to discuss intellectual disabilities or special needs with schools. Obtaining information from parents can be challenging.

Yes. Follow whatever suggestions or requirements have been put in place. Also begin differentiated teaching strategies including 1) Making content accessible for all types of learners 2) Using flexible grouping 3) Differentiate text so you are meeting the learners where they are at. 4) Use of iPads or other visual learning aids.
Provide feedback to parents and staff regularly on how the student is progressing. Continually try to improve methods to enhance the students educational outcomes.

Yes, there are issues within the class. Speak with the student, or have Japanese staff assist, to identify issues and possible solutions. Seating plans, differentiation of work can all be achieved. If necessary, create an individualised lesson plan so the student can continue to have their educational outcomes met. (
