Angel's parents don't approve of the marriage because of Tess' lower class.

Tess uses her sexuality to kill Alec, whom desired her for her innocence, by making him believe that she wanted to be with him.
But then Angel uses Tess's sexuality against he, blaming her for her own rape, while also defending himself by stating that there is nothing wrong with him sleeping with someone else
MISOGINY
Farm women are made to complete labour by hand whereas man workers are able to take advantage of modern machinery
Tess is considered beyond redemption, so she struggles to hold down a job and is left by Angel whom she then marries. Not even the murder of Alec can absolve her of sin. Her only path to redemption is death.

CITY VS COUNTRYSIDE
More wealth and job opportunities in the countryside. Townpeople struggle for jobs and live in poverty
In the city Tess can escape her past, while in the countryside she's promptly recognized.
CHILDHOOD
Tess's baby dies before it can experience childhood.
Tess's childhood is cut short when she has to move away to work for Alec d'Urberville, she looses her innocence to him.
Tess's younger siblings are also stuck because of their father's beliefs, thinking that by working in the d'Urbeville estate, Tess would bring money to the family.
None of the family's children live a normal childhood.
DEATH
Alec's murder means freedom for Tess, followed by imprisonment.
The death of Angels partner when abroad means that his farming business could suffer.
LIVES VALUED THROUGH MONEY.
Death of the family horse means that the family loses it's primary means of transport and so can't sell anymore.
