Simnel rebellion
1486/87, on throne 1 year
- Impersonate Earl of Warwick
- Support from Kildare and Margaret of Burgundy
- 2000 German mercenaries under Schwarz
- Invade England in 1487, Battle of Stoke
Threat:
- Support : rebel alliance angry Yorkists and foreign support
- Henry position : new to throne, allowed John de la Pole on council so naive, Earl of Northumberland not stop the rebels.
- Military : Able to raise an army and forced Henry into battle.
Not a threat:
- Support : Simnel imposter so lack support as people like stability.
Henry position : Easy defeat, John de la Pole killed and Lovell disappear.
Militarily : Irish lack body armour and resources, mercenaries only loyal to leader so when died they retreated, royal army better and stronger, easy defeat.
Warbeck rebellion
1491/99, throne for 6 years
- Impersonate Richard, Duke of York.
- Ireland no support.
- France treated as Prince.
- Burgundy recognise as nephew.
- Domestic : Burgundy agents 1493/94, Sir William Stanley (chamberlain) involved in plot and executed in 1495.
- Kent, try invade with 300 men. Failed.
- Scotland, James support.
- 1496 invade with 1400 men. Failed.
- 1497 Cornish tax rebellion.
- Try land in Cornwall, support from 3000-8000 men but no nobility.
- Earl of Devon defend Exeter.
- Trapped in Taunton, imprisoned and executed in 1499 with Warwick
Threat:
- Support : Lot of foreign support, some domestic support.
- Henry position : Could not disprove claim, supporters betray him.
- Military : Invade, 9 year threat.
Not a threat:
- Support : Not continued foreign support and a lack of domestic support.
- Henry position : On throne for long time, Yorkist lack leader, dynasty growing, lots of supports who help put it down
- Military : Henry had more resources, defeated easily.

- 1487 Duke of Brittany died, France surround, Henry said would sent 6000 but only sent 3000, not enough so by 1491 France absorb Brittany.
- Yorkshire tax revolt as raise tax pay for Brittany campaign.
- 1942 small invasion launched, Charles not want to fight due to Italian wars so negotiate.
- 1492 Treaty of Etaples : Protect from each other enemies and Henry receive pension of 50 000 crowns per annum.
Ireland

- Pardon Kildare, oath of loyalty. couldn't trust, sent small force in 1492, removed Kildare from Deputy post, sent in Edward Poynings.
- Warbeck attack Waterford, Poynings put it down.
- Kildare imprisoned until 1496, allowed to return as Deputy.
- 1495 Poynings Law : Irish Parliament could not be called without English authority or make laws.

- James III had domestic problems, James IV want set tone so support Warbeck.
- James prepare marriage between Warbecj and his cousin Lady Catherine Gordon.
Henry try to negotiate marriage alliance between James and Princess Margaret.
- After 1496 failed invasion, James negotiate and Cornish rebellion meant Henry was also.
- 1497 Truce of Ayton : 7 year truce.
- 1503 : James and Princess Margaret marry.
