        One of two or more genes that when present together produce effects qualitative distinct from the separate effect of any one of them
      - Inhibitory gene action
        
        A dominant allele at one locus can mask the expression of both dominant and recessive alleles at a second locus.
      - Duplicate gene action
        
        When there is a dominant allele masking the expression of recessive alleles at two loci.
      - Masking gene action
        
        When out of two genes , the dominant allele like A of one gene masked the activity of allele of another gene like B. Then A gene locus is said to be epistatic to the B genes locus.
      - Supplementry gene action
        
        *Dominant allele of one of two gene governing a character produces phenotypic effect
      - Polymaric gene action
        
        Two completely dominant genes controlling a character produce the same phenotype when their dominant alleles are alone.

        Chocolate coat colour of labrador retriever is a result of the epistatic gene.
    - - Dominant epistasis happens when the dominant allele of one gene masks the expression of all alleles of another gene.
    - - Recessive epistasis is the phenomenon in which the expression of one gene pair is dependent on another gene pair.
