Attempted robbery in an alley, avoid THAT alley, but avoid all somewhat
Brain remembers, avoid in future to not induce stress

Naturally remember dangerous or scary events, but good mems?
Ice cream on hot summer days, warm blanket in very heavy snowfall

Just like fear, excitement and joy are strong feelings

Combine firsts and meaningful, those are truly strong memories
People often best remember buying first house, birth of first child, first kiss, etc
Sure, remember second house and first time things that don't really matter to you, but combine?
Conclusion

Memory complex, but we Remember scary times to avoid them, fun times to go back to them, but strong memories made by strong emotions, whatever they are
