Respiratory system - Coggle Diagram
Respiratory system
-
Breathing process
1) Air is inhaled through the nose, it gets spread out by the shelf like structures called conchae[makes air warmer, traps inhaled particles]
2) Epiglottis[flap like structure, during breathing it is pointed upwards allowing air flow into the trachea during swallowing it folds down to prevent food from going into the trachea], if the food enters gag refels is induced to protect the respriratory system
3) from the bronchi the air enters into smaller bronchioles and into the alveoli which are surrounded by capillaries.
Exchange occurs in the alveolar sac, capillaries give up waste CO2 and pick up O2, then CO2 is exhaled.
Diaphrag, contracts while breathing in [allows lungs to expand] and relaxing as we exhale [allows lungs to contract]

Components
Nasal cavity, Nose, Pharynx[is part of digestive system and respiratory system, connects the respiratory openings to the larynx/voice box.
trachea/wind pipe connects to the bronchi which merge into smaller tubes called bronchioles and is connected tiny air sacs called alveoli then comes the diaphragm
