Viral Rashes (ii) - Coggle Diagram

      - seizures, deafness, hemiplegia, severe ID in survivors
    - - rare
      - on average 7 yrs later

      - most got primary infection before 2y/o
- - - - coxsackie
      - painful vesicles on hands, feet, mouth, tongue, buttocks
      - give fluids + analgesics
      - subsides in a few days
    - - vesicular ulcerated lesions on soft palate + uvula
      - cause anorexia, odynophagia + fever
      - give fluids + analgesia
    - - pleuritic chest pain + pleural rub
    - - rare
      - HF
- - - - aka fifth disease or slapped cheek syndrome
      - most common illness
      - fever, malaise, headache, myalgia, slapped cheek rash progressing to maculopapular lace like rash on trunk + limbs
    - - most serious
      - occurs in chronic haemolytic anaemics ( e.g. sickle cell disease, thalassaemia) + immunocompromised
    - - majority will recover
      - can cause hydrops
