fabrics
Fabrics can be examined in pieces, if this is available to investigators, but can also be examined as threads or fibers which have been separated from the fabric. Thread: one strand of spun “yarn” (there are different thicknesses) Fabric: composed of vertical (warp) and horizontal (weft) threads woven into sheets or interlocking threads that are interlocking (ie: knit). Interlocking fabrics (ex: knitted fabrics) are generally more stretchy than woven fabrics, which have some stretch diagonally.
