FUTURE TENSES - Coggle Diagram
FUTURE TENSES
BE GOING TO
SUBJECT + BE + GOING TO+ VERBO ALL'INFINITO
example: Io giocherò = I am going to play football tomorrow = intention
to talk about an intention or a prediction in the future
example: tomorrow is going to rain
you understand that someon's talking about the future from the context
negative form = SUBJECT + BE + NOT GOING TO+ VERBO ALL'INFINITO
example: he's not going to come tomorrow
interrogative form = BE + SUBJECT+ GOING TO+ VERBO ALL'INFINITO
WILL
we use it when we decided to do something right in the moment of speaking
example: I will come too
example: I'll have the salad = it's something that we decided in the moment of speaking
example: I will pay you back tomorrow = implied promise
example: I will help you = offert that we decided to give right now
OFFER / PROMISE / INSTANT DECISION
EXCEPTION = PREDICTION
example: I think it will rain / we can also say: I think it's going to rain
we use BE GOING TO when ther's something that makes us understand that this thing will happen
we use WILL when we're guessing
PRESENT CONTINUOS
example: Io giocherò a calcio domani = I am playing football tomorrow = already organised
you understand that someon's talking about the future from the context
it is used for something already organized
PRESENT SIMPLE
to talking about a timetable
example: domani il volo parte alle 8 = tomorrow the flight leaves at 8
We DON'T use WILL to talk about things that we have to do in the future
I can't say: I will go to Rome tomorrow
often it doesn't change much to use BE GOING TO or PRESENT CONTINUOS
