similarities to other religions:
they think that the best state of mind is when it is completely at peace and relaxed. this state of mind is called "Thoave"
when unists pray, they pray on their knees. they begin by saying "amen", just like christians, and end by saying "aum", like hindus.
like christians, followers of Unism (unists) believe in after life. They think that once you die, you either go to heaven, if you performed adequately in life, hell, if you were evil when living, and if you were extremely good then you would get the chance to be reborn.
similar to followers of the goddess Matsu, Unists believe that the sea is the most holy place because of how natural it is. they think that once you pass away, you're soul sinks to the ocean where sea spirits judge you and send you towards either heaven, hell, or to be reborn.
unists are not monotheistic. instead, they are polytheistic, which means they believe in multiple gods. But mainly they believe in one god: Gollah. They believe that Gollah is the creator of the universe, who hopes for peace for all being, while Shutsu, his brother, is the destroyer of the universe. Although most Unists are followers of Gollah, the few followers of Shutsu are mostly intent on destroying the world and becoming world wide terrorists.
while usually, unists pray in their houses twice a day with small groups, and once a week they go to a temple and pray. During this, they stand with hands clasped together to show unism and sing praise to Gollah, their main god. After, followers of Gollah pelt a statue of Shutsu with stones.
because Unists believe that the sea is the most holy and natural place, they have the place where they are most reverent of on the water: temple
instead of churches, Unism have temples instead. They believe that temples are more fit because churches are more christian places of worship and is usually monotheistic instead of polytheistic. temples are more widely recognized through different religions and are usually polytheistic places of worship
symbols to represent what unists believe:
to represent the most general meaning of unism, which is unity, the most common symbol is a pair of clasped hands
because the place of worship for Unism is on the water, to signify the holy spirits and the importance of the location of the temple to Unists, a symbol used to represent the temples is a picture of a temple, floating above waves.
to represent the best state of mind, when it is at peace, Thoave, unists use a symbol of a simple mind and body to show the connection between the two parts and how they are, in a way, the same.
when unists pray, they say amen, which is what christians or sometimes muslims say at the beginning/end of each prayer. unists end with "aum", which is a hindu practice which symbolises the universe.
unists also believe in afterlife: heaven, hell, or to be resurrected. this is similar to christianity and islam, where they believe in heaven and hell, but also buddhism. buddhists believe that one can be "reborn" into a whole different creature judging on how well they behave in life. unism beliefs are not so different as well
Unists have an annual festival called "The day of Peace", where Unists sit in their houses and reflect on their life and how they can improve it.
Other than The day of Peace, Unism has a more festive holiday during January. This is where Unists dress in whatever they want, eat whatever they want, and do whatever they want. This day is the most popular festival, called Fesliday. The purpose of this is to have Unists enjoy their life and be more grateful towards what life has given them already.
