Church calendar is full of memorial events - xmas and easter!
Exodus - 42 stations where something worthy af remembering happened - often built a pile of stones to commemorate
Able to look back - see what God did for us there - and there
We need to build those piles of stones for ourselves - so that we can look back, and remember what God has done
Encourage ourselves and others - through testimony
We've been unable, in the past year, to celebrate possible the most poignant and important memorial through communion
You see this bread? I want you to imagine that this bread is my body. My body is going to be broken – broken for you because I love you – so remember when you break the bread – I want you to remember that my body was broken. I died for you because I loved you so much.
do you see this wine? When you have a sip of the wine I want you to remember that my blood was shed for you. But hidden within this is also the promise – the promise that I will be with you always.
