It is a task students must perform instead of than write a test.

What is it?

Assessment Items value should reflect amount of time spent on it during class.
Summative Assessments
are used to evaluate student learning, skill acquisition, and academic achievement at the conclusion of a defined instructional period - this is done at the end of the unit, project, semester, ect.
When to use it?
These need to be scheduled
Students need lots of time to prepare for it.
Should be given at the end of units or courses.
How does it benefit the teacher?
Reveals what information has been retianed and mastered
Identifies gaps in knowledge
Reveals the need to change teaching style or enrich activities
Identifies strengths and weakneses in cirriculum/lesson plan
