It is considered that a person lives in conditions of poverty when the income per inhabitant
of their home is less than the value of the minimum amount necessary
Extreme poverty or indigence exists when the income of a person or a

Most of the poor people in Latin America live in rural areas. Extreme poverty is also higher in
the countryside than in the city.
Education is a factor closely related to poverty. In many countries of the region, adults living in poor families have not finished primary education and, in many cases, do not have three years of study.
The countries with the highest incidence of poverty on the continent are Honduras,
Guatemala, Venezuela, México and Nicaragua according to the data presented on 2017.
