Holy Week
Mark 11:15-18
Jesus entered the temple courts and drove out those who were buying and selling there.He does not allow anyone to carry merchandise through the temple courts.He told the people that his house was a prayer for everyone but they made it a den of robbers.Upon hearing this the chief priests and teachers of law sought out a way to kill Jesus because they feared him as everyone was amazed by his teachings.
Matthew 26:14-16
One of the twelve chief priests bribed Judas Escariot.They told him that they would give him 30 pieces of silver to hand over Jesus to themFrom then on Judas spied on Jesus looking for the perfect opportunity to give him to the chief priests.
Matthew 26:17-25
Jesus told his disciples to go to a certain man and tell him that Jesus wants to celebrate his Passover with his disciples at his house.As they ate with him Jesus told his disciples that one of them would betray him.They all one by one asked him if he meant themselves.He told them that the Son of Man who had dipped his hand into the same bowl as Jesus would betray him and the man that it would've been better for if the betrayer had never been born.Judas asked Jesus if the man was him and Jesus replied with “You have said so”.
Matthew 26:26-30
Jesus took bread when he had given thanks, broke it, and gave it to his disciples He took a cup when he had given thanks and said the wine was his blood and told his disciples to drink from it. He then went to the Mount of Olives
Matthew 26:36-46
Jesus and his disciples went to Gethsemane. He took Peter and two more and prayed. Jesus comes back and finds his disciples sleeping and goes away a second time. Jesus returns again, still to find his disciples sleeping. He says it's the time that the son of man is delivered into the hands of sinners.
Matthew 26:31-35
Jesus told his disciple that they would disown him and after he would go into Galilee. Peter says he would not disown him and Jesus says that Peter will disown him three times. Peter and all the disciples say that even if they have to die with Jesus, they will never disown him.
Matthew 26:49-52
Judas greeted Jesus and kissed him. Jesus asks him why he came. Some men arrested Jesus and one of his companions drew a sword and struck the servant of the high priest. Jesus tells him that anyone who draws the sword will die by the sword.
Matthew 26:65-68
The high priest says Jesus is only telling lies and the crowd answers that Jesus is worthy of death. They spit, punched, and slapped him, then asked him who hit him.
Matthew 26:69-75
As Peter was sitting in the courtyard a servant girl came and asked him if he knew Jesus and Peter denied it. Two more people asked this and Peter denied it, then he remembered Jesus’ word that before a rooster crowed, Peter would disown him three times. Peter went outside and weeped.
Matthew 27:21-26
The crowd wanted to crucify Jesus, even when the governor had no idea what Jesus had done. The people say that the innocent man's blood would be on them and their children. They hand Jesus over to be crucified.
Matthew 27:27-29
The governor's soldiers took Jesus to a Praetorium, stripped him, and put a scarlet robe on him. They made a crown of thorns and placed it on his head and a staff in his right hand. The soldiers mocked Jesus and said, “Hail, king Of Jews!”.
Matthew 27:33-38
Jesus is taken to golgotha and is given wine mixed with gall to drink. He refuses. They crucified him and sat down to watch over him. There were two rebels, one on his left and one on his right, also crucified.
Matthew 27:45-51
Jesus cried out in a loud voice to God. Someone gave Jesus wine vinegar to drink and said to leave him alone and let's see if Elijah would come to save him. Jesus cried out again and he gave up his spirit. The curtain of the temple tore into two, the earth shook, and the rocks split.
Matthew 27:57-60
When it was evening, a man named Joseph who was the disciple of Jesus, wnet and asked Pilate for his body. He took the body, wrapped it in a linen cloth, and placed it in a tomb he made. He rolled a big stone in front of the entrance of the tomb and went away.
Matthew 28:1-10
Mary Magdalene and the other Mary go to look at the tomb. An angel came from heaven, rolled back the stone, and sat on it. They were looking for Jesus.The angel tells them to tell the disciples that Jesus has risen from the dead. The women go out and look for Jesus. They see him and he tells them to tell his disciples to go to Galilee.
