Alec Brown Bey thus didn't think of himself as "Negro" but as "Moorish American," as he was following the divine command to return to Islam.
- - - - Reuben Frazier Bey and his wife Ophelia lived in Indiana. Bey went to the Chicago World's Fair and came back saying they weren't "Negroes," but Moorish Americans.
      - Miriam Sadler (immigrant from Nevis) joined Father Divine's group after being members of an Ethiopian Hebrew Congregations. Sadler tried to become naturalized under the name "Virgin Mary" but was denied.
