Short term goal
Newborn to have temperate within normal values within 20 minutes of first intervention

INTERVENTIONS
- Monitor temperature for at least two hours. Rational: To make sure the infants temperature is in the normal range.
- Discuss with family the importance of temperature. Rational: To educate the parents on the possible dangers of the infants temperature not in a normal range. Educate what the normal range is as well.
- Monitor skin color and temperature. Rational: The skin changing in skin color and temperature are signs of thermoregulation issues.
Acute pain r/t recent circumcision AEB uncontrollable crying and elevated heart rate and blood pressure
INTERVENTIONS
- Rock the infant in a rocking chair. Rational: promotes relaxation for the mother and the infant.
- Hold the infant in a well supported position. Rational: Provides comfort to the infant.
- Place the infant between mother's breasts for direct skin to skin contact. Rational: skin to skin with the skin provides a comforting measure for the infant.
- Allow for sucking on a pacifier. Rational: Can relieve the infants' distress
Short term goal
Decrease discomfort by lowering physiologic responses such as elevated heart rate and increased blood pressure.
