  - - - Clinton's welfare reform (PRWORA) (1990s) Clinton implemented a new set of welfare policies prioritizing "work first" and reformed welfare cash assistance. States were given block grants with vague instructions for social welfare programs, and this has ultimately led to a more complicated and less effective system of social welfare.
      - FDR's New Deal- Expanded social welfare and set up many of the programs that still exist today- such as medicare, medicaid, welfare programs for Great Depression relief, and so on. This model has been modified but many of the programs have endured today.
      - Obama's Affordable Care Act- expanded health care system and provided insurance to many Americans,
      - Reagan & Reaganomics- Sought to reduce government spending and impose conservative American values- led to further increase in income inequality
      - Trump Era- reduction of federal spending led to further income inequality and reduction in social services- especially for the Affordable Care Act
    - - Traditionally "vulnerable" groups have advocated for equal rights and legislative action (women, African Americans, LGBTQ+, Disabled, immigrants, Native Americans, and so on have had to advocate for equitable treatment in this country since the beginning
