Migration: a global question
The majority situation
Migration has an impact on the entire international community.
They have influence in the country of origin, in the countries of transit and in the countries of destination.
Many go as refugees.
Many of the migrations are forced.
Coexistence in the country of destination
Once they have reached their destination, the new life and work are organized.
Most of the time is spent at work. The most common is construction, agriculture and other services.
Illegal people live in very poor conditions, risk deportation and are victims of exploitation.
Although some have achieved advantageous situations such as Ecuadorian doctors who have emigrated to Chile.
Relationshipbetween nationals and foreigners
Situations such as education, ethnicity, religion, etc. influence when arriving in another country.
In countries like Spain, they call the Latino migrants (sudacas) insultingly.
Even within the same country, people of color or from the coast, indigenous people, are discriminated against.
Migration is blamed for insecurity.
Discrimination must be rejected.
Women and migration
Female migration has increased from 47 to 48%.
Feminization of work. Women who care for children, the elderly, the sick.
Illegal women are victims of sexual exploitation.
Refugees
Many people die trying to get to another country, but they do not want to return to their own.
The number of people who are forced to leave their country of origin (refugees) is growing more and more.
Refugees leave mainly because of wars, extreme poverty, or both.
The transnational families
Migration has led to divorces, new marriages, a decrease in the number of children, etc.
In a transnational family the members are in different countries and benefit economically.
In the absence of the parents, the children are left in the care of uncles, grandparents or neighbors.
In many cases, family ties are broken.
