Type of Boots
Tendon Boots

Open fronted @ Fetlock boots
Function : To give extra protection to the horse's tendon and fetlock. Must open at the front of the cannon bone
Overreach Boots
Function: fit around lower pastern, encompassing the hoof and protect the heel & coronet
Brushing Boots
Function: used to protecting the lower leg from injury that may occur if one leg @ hoof strikes the opposite leg
Travelling Boots
Function: use while on journey cover from knee, hock to coronet

Type of leg injuries
- Brushing : inside of the leg (below the knee @ hock + inflicted by the opposite foot
- Speedicut : while horse galloping it will cuts into the leg below the knee @ hock
- Forging : hits the toe of a front shoe with the toe of a hind shoe
- Bruised shins : rapping either front @ hind shins on a jump
- Polo knocks : usually happen on the front legs below the knee blow from a polo mallet @ ball
The function of boot:- to protect horse's legs
and joints from injury
- self inflicted such as faulty conformation, poor shoeing and lack of balance
- boots were designed to give a protection to a specified area of the horse's leg
- Every time after use the boots must clean properly to avoid infection diseases

Why bandaging?
1.To provide support for tendons and ligaments during work
- To prevent or reduce swelling
- To protect from injury
- To provide a barrier from contamination
- To aid in healing
Use of stable bandage: - Protection
- Securing a poultice @ wound dressing
- To keep an injury clean (contaminated by stall bedding @ dirt)
- Reduce @ prevent filled legs (fluid builds up swells the leg)
- As a base - prevents the swelling of the higher up from travelling down the leg
-To prevent the uninjured leg from swelling
Advantages: - Can be used for a horse who cannot wear boots
- Chosen for a horse whose legs are blemished with significant scar tissue
- Cleaner look
Disadvantages: - Incorrect application (uneven distribution of tension and too tight) damage the tendon
- Not suitable for wet conditions
- More time consuming apply than boots
Tail bandage
Function: It can be used to prevent a horse from rubbing its tail hairs off on the crossbar in a float. It will keep the horse’s tail clean in muddy conditions.
Tail wrap
Function: The purpose of this is to protect the tail hairs on the dock from being rubbed by a butt bar or back door on the trailer.

Loose Ring Snaffle Bits
Enable the horse to adjust the position of the bit in his mouth. It tends to make the horse relax his jaw and chew the bit, thus encouraging the horse to accept the bit.
Egg Butt Snaffle Bits
It is useful in training a young horse, general riding, and the beginning stages of dressage.
D Ring Snaffle
Protects the horse's sensitive lips from being pinched. Safeguard against the bit being pulled through the horse's mouth.
