SEPARATION OF Tc99m BY SALINE ELUTION IN A Mo-99-Tc-99m GENERATOR.
GENERATOR DESIGN
The design is aimed at the separation and elution of the daughter radionuclide Tc99m from the parent radionuclide Mo99.

daughter Tc-99m not bounded to alumina, saline solution is used to wash out Tc-99m
This process can be done by drawing the isotonic saline solution through column using vacuum in collection vial

CONSIDERATION NEEDED FOR EFFECTIVE SEPARATION
i. The physical or chemical techniques used should have high
throughput capabilities
ii. Separation process should be rapid
to reduce the decay losses of
Tc-99m
to minimize the Tc-99g content in the separated product.
iii. The yield of Tc-99m should be high
iv. Reproducible radionuclidic, radiochemical, and chemical purity of Tc-99m within the acceptable range
v. Minimal human interaction

Will be medically approved since the liquids that contact this material may be injected into humans.
