Migration: a global question
THE MAJORITY SITUATION
Migration is a global problem, and a bigger one is the flow of refugees that has increased. When leaving a country is forced, by not preparing it is more difficult to settle elsewhere.
COEXISTENCE IN THE COUNTRY OF DESTINATION
Before traveling, the people who migrate already have everything planned, such as seeing where they are going to go, the work they are going to do, etc.
Migrants tend to be in jobs that people who are from there do not want to do.
If there is no work, migrants may run the risk of being deported or reported. So they take whatever job is in sight.
RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN NATIONALS AND FOREIGNERS
When moving, you can see the level of education, age, socioeconomic status, etc. There is often discrimination among the inhabitants of a country against migrants.
WOMEN AND MIGRATION
In the mid-20th century, there were more migrant men than women. Women represent 48% of migration. The jobs they obtain are already those assigned previously for women, and if they do not obtain them, they tend to work being sexually abused.
REFUGEES
People are often sheltered by war, poverty, or a combination of both. There are many reports of deaths in internal rafts, trying to reach European coasts, or of groups that defy border barriers.
THE TRANSNATIONAL FAMILIES
Within the last few years, families have been changing. Transnational families are the result of international migration, and it is expanding.
