Iterative design
-
iterative design process
-
a cyclical approach is used where a proposal or prototype is formulated, tested, analysed & then refined & modified based on the results, each iteration of the design improving with the refinements leading to the desired quality & functionality
may go back forth between steps - e.g. sketching first then carrying out research then continue designing then finding out more info
can carry out evaluation of design at any point in design process - possibly to analyse research or evaluate ideas & models
-
-
iterative:
describes the process of repeatedly going through the circular design process. An iteration would be one cycle of the process
-
helps avoid design fixation - especially important if the design you are fixated on is not the best possible one & might have flaws uncovered by iterative design
