Regulatory: Acute Kidney Injury - Coggle Diagram
Regulatory: Acute Kidney Injury
Pathophysiology:
Etiology:
This can include hypovolemia, hemorrhage, decreased cardiac output, sepsis, and loss of electrolytes
Hypoperfusion of the cells causes a lower GFR and UOP
Decrease in filtration
Less substance is absorbed by the tubules
Renal cells decrease O2 energy
Causes ischemic changes
Decrease of volume or impaired blood flow
Can lead to acute tubular necrosis
Risk Factors:
Advanced age
Use of nephrotoxins
Heart failure
Major trauma or surgery
Signs and Symptoms:
Oliguria
Altered LOC
Tachycardia
Crackles in lungs
Complications:
Electrolyte imbalances
Heart failure
Fluid overload
Death
Lab/Diagnostic Tests:
Creatinine
BUN (needs creatinine done also to determine true AKI)
Electrolyte levels
Kidney ultrasound
CT
Collaborative Treatment:
Kidney transplant
Administration of fluids
CRRT
Hemodialysis
