Holy Week
Matthew 26:17-25
- When it was time to eat Jesus and the apostles sat together.
- Jesus told them that one of them would betray him, and the apostles all wanted to make sure it wasn't themself that Jesus was talking about.
- Jesus' apostales asked if they could help prepare for the Passover, so he sent them to the city.
- Finally, Judas asked if it would be him, and Jesus said yes.
Matthew 26:26-30
- He said to his apostles, "Take and eat; this is my body."
- While at the table, Jesus took bread and broke it.
- Then, he gave them a cup and said "Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood.
- After, they sang a hymn and went to Mount of Olives.
Matthew 26:36-46
- Jesus and the Twelve apostles went to a place called Gethsemane.
- Jesus then took 3 apostles with him and told them to keep watch while he prayed to God saying, "My Father, if it is possible may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will."
- When Jesus returned, he found them sleeping. So, he went back and prayed the same thing 2 more times.
- The third time Jesus came back he told the apostles to get up because his betrayer has arrived.
Matthew 26:69-75
- Then, a servant told a bunch of others that Peter was with Jesus, but again Peter denied it.
- Peter swore he didn't know Jesus for a third time, and right after he said that a rooster crowed.
- When asked if he was with Jesus, Peter lied and denied it.
- That is when Peter realized that Jesus was right.
Matthew 27:33-38
- He was offered wine mixed with gall, but he declined.
- On his forehead was written "This is Jesus, the king of the Jews."
- Jesus was taken to a place called Golgotha.
- They sat down and watched him and 2 others get crucified.
Matthew 27:45-51
- Jesus yelled out to God, but people though he was yelling to Elijah.
- They gave him wine vinegar to drink and waited to see if Elijah would come.
- It was dark from noon until 3.
- When Jesus yelled again, things started to break and the earth shook.
Matthew 28:1-10
- An angel appeared and told them that he wasn't there, for he was risen.
- The angel told them to come if they wanted to see him.
- Two women named Mary went to look at the tomb were Jesus was.
- After, she sent the women to tell all apostles that Jesus has risen, and they did.
Mark 11:15-18
- He noticed that people were selling things, so he kicked them out because the temple was supposed to be a place of prayer.
- Jesus arrived in a temple that was located is Jerusalem.
- Because of this, people feared Jesus and wanted him dead.
Matthew 26:14-16
- Judas went to the chief priests to ask what he would be given if he gave them Jesus.
- The chief priests gave him 30 pieces of silver and Judas went off to find Jesus.
- Judas was one of the Twelve Apostles, and one day he decided to betray Jesus.
Matthew 26:31-35
- Jesus told the apostles that they would fall away on account of him, and after he had risen he would go ahead of them.
- However, Peter said that no matter what he would not fall away on account of Jesus.
- That is when Jesus told Peter that he would disown him three times that before the rooster crowed, but again Peter did not agree.
Matthew 26:49-52
- Jesus told Judas to do what he came for, so Judas arrested Jesus.
- Jesus let him and told everyone to back away.
- Judas greeted and kissed Jesus, he called him Rabbi.
Matthew 26:65-68
- A priest tore Jesus' clothes up.
- Everyone was yelling that they wanted him dead.
- People continued to punch Jesus and spit in his face.
Matthew 27:21-26
- They also wanted Jesus to be crucified even though he had done nothing wrong.
- Then, they let Barabbas go and they handed Jesus over so he could get killed,
- When asked, people decided that they wanted Barabbas (a criminal) instead of Jesus.
Matthew 27:27-29
- He now wore a scarlet robe and a crown of thorns.
- The soldiers then began to mock Jesus.
- The governor's soldiers took Jesus and stripped him.
Matthew 27:57-60
- A man named Joseph asked for Jesus' dead body.
- He took it and wrapped it in cloth.
- Then, he put the body in a tomb and pushed a stone to block the entrance.
