o Show the locations and names of natural features of the earth. These may include rivers, mountains, oceans, etc.
-
o Show the locations and names of built features of the Earth. These include country borders, state, and territory borders, etc.
-
o Use dots to represent a rage of a different features. The dots show the locations of the chosen feature and the size and colour can show different characteristics of that feature.
-
o Show movement from one place to another. Arrows of different thicknesses or colours are used to show where different things are moving to and from.
-
o Show conditions in the atmosphere, such as air pressure, wind speed and wind direction.

Space
Geographers use the concepts of space when investigating the way that things are arranged on the Earths surface.
Environment
Environment mean the living and non-living components and elements that make up an area, and the way they are organised into a system.
Interconnection
Geographers use the concepts of interconnection to better understand the links between places and people. Aswell as the way we live.
Sustainability
Developing ways to ensure the earths resources be used and managed responsibility so they can be maintained for future generations.
Change
The Earth is constantly changing. These changes can be a result of natural forces and human activity.
Scale
Geographers study things that take place on many different spatial levels. They use the concepts of scale to look for explanations and outcomes at different levels.

Land-Mining, clearing land for farming, extracting palm oil
Water
Fishing, dumping waste in the ocean

SOURCES- Minerals deposits such as coal, fuel
Iron ore, manufacturing
Timber
Food sources
SINKS- Process in the natural environment that absorb our waste.
Micra, organism in ocean breaks down oil spills
Bacteria in soil breaks down human waste.
SERVICES- Things that are done for us
Forest absorb carbon dioxide and produce oxygen.
Wetlands filter water and slow floodwaters
SPIRITUALTY- The process of relationships that humans being have with the environment.
The connection indigenous Australians have with the land.
Suring, bushwalking.
BIODIVERSITY- The variety of living organisms on the planet
Measured by the amount of species present in a particular ecosystem or region.
BIODIVERSITY LOSS
When there is a decrease in the number, type or variety of living organisms within an environment.
17000 and 10 000 species are reaching extinction each year.
Five causes-
Habitat change-
deforestation. If the animals habitat is lost they have to fins somewhere else to live or they die which causes increase in biodiversity.
Over exploitation of fresh water-
The use of fresh water is used to much takes it away from the fresh water animals.
Pollution of land-
Environment gets wrecked and isn't liveable for wildlife.
Spread of invasive species-
Add more pressure to native species.
Climate change-
Change water temperature so fish and water animals die.
Hot Spot- 35 biodiversity hotspots in the world.
Hotspots have already lost 86% or their original habitat.
-
DEFORESTATION-
As trees grow, they remove and stone carbon dioxide from the air.
When tress are cut down or burned their stored carbon is released into the air as carbon dioxide.
ENTLANCES GREEN HOUSE EFFECT-
Methane + CO2 enter into the atmosphere and increase the layer of GHG, trapping heat which creates the enhanced GH effect and warm the planet.

Lake Chad- Is a lake in Africa it has declined by 75% since 1963 to 2001. The lake has a surface area of 23000 square kilometres and was once one of the important fresh water lakes. was the 6th largest lake to ever exist at the time of existence.
Climate change in Lake Chad- due to evaporation. As the air was changing/ getting hotter the amount of water that was evaporated ended up becoming empty and drying up.
Population growth on Lake Chad- As the population around Lake Chad grew the supply and demand of the water was higher. Over times the supply of water started to become scares as many people were in need of the water. As well as animal and wildlife around were in need of the water too. Population growth increased the demand of the water needed which aswell as climate change take the water humans and animals, wildlife.
INVASIVE SPECIES- Introduced organisms that negatively alters its new environment
Valued environment
Agriculture
Other social resources
