Figurative language
personification
When non-human things are represented with human traits .
"The tree leaves danced in the wind"
Hyperbole
the use of exaggeration as a rhetorical device or figure of speech.
"The walk was a trillion miles long!"
Metaphor
Comparing two things without using "like" or "as".
Example: She is a walking dictionary.
Simile
Comparing two things using "like" or "as".
Example: "she was as red as a tomato"
Onomatopoeia
A word that imitates or suggest the source of the sound it makes.
example: BOOM, POW, BUZZ
