Climate Change - Coggle Diagram
Climate Change
Causes
-
-
Relation (pollution): Airplanes spend a ton of fossil fuels to run along with releasing co2 and water vapor while decreasing ozone and methane which means they are polluting the atmosphere
As people use more fossil fuels it gets burned and gets released into atmosphere which can heat up the earth
Deforestation means trees are cut down which makes the carbon intake from atmosphere lower which in turns heats up the oceans and earth as a whole
Trash incineration is incredibly bad for the climate, releasing 2.5 times as much carbon dioxide CO2 to make the same amount of electricity as a coal power plant which is very bad and heats up the atmosphere as well due to the co2.
Environmental Impact
-
-
Relation (ecology): These melting ice caps effect the polar bears because without them the polar bears can't travel safely across "land" to find food and shelter for their young cubs
As the oceans heat up the salinization gets worse and this can kill entire coral reefs and their surrounding ecosystems.
Desertification is another effect of climate change and as deserts grow the surrounding habitats are destroyed as they turn to desert
When permafrost thaws due to heating up atmospheric temperatures, so do ancient bacteria and viruses in the ice and soil. These newly-unfrozen microbes could make humans and animals very sick.
Economic Impacts
-
-
Relation (population): As the human population ever increases so does the need for food. And if there is climate change many fish populations will die which in turns there will be endless amounts of people with less food and this means economies will decline as well negatively effecting the human population.
As landscapes become more arid and dry farms and viable farmland drys up destroying the agriculture industry and meaning less food
Oceans will rise as the ice caps and glaciers melt and this means properties by the water will be destroyed which messes up the housing market and peoples lives
The frequency and intensity of extreme weather following climate change can damage factories, supply chain operations and other infrastructure, and disrupt transport.
Solutions
-
-
Relation (energy): Carbon capture takes in the co2 released from power plants and this recaptured carbon can be reused which then saves energy.
Planting trees helps mitigate climate change because the trees take in carbon from the atmosphere which means it wont heat up as much and as quickly
If we use renewable energy such as wind turbines then there will be less global warming and climate change because we are in turn releasing less fossil fuels
Family planning helps decrease the overall gain in human population which helps decrease carbon footprints
Evidence

Relation (earth systems) Hurricanes main function in the Earth's system is to maintain the balance of global heat by taking warm air from the equator and transporting it towards the North and South poles. Without this circulation, the temperature at the poles and equator would be drastically colder or hotter. More hurricanes means the poles will heat up.
Melting ice caps shows that as the overall global temps increase the caps melt more than ever and this is bad
As NASA looks at the ozone we see that it is growing which shows that we are having an impact on the environment and this is related to climate change cause the temps overall increase cause of this
Carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere are higher than ever before and this shows that climate change is a thing due to us releasing it into the air
