Types of 20th Century Wars
Total Wars
Definition
When a country uses all of its possible resources to win against the enemy
Location
Almost all continents, mainly been done with great powers
For example, Germany, Britain, Japan, Soviet Union, United States, among others.
Important features
Entire population devoted themselves to contribute to the war
Resources such as human, economic, military, industrial, natural, material and educational were all used

Wars between States (limited war)
Definition
Limiting or constraining the way the war is conducted
Location
Regions, countries
For example: United States, India, Pakistan
Important features
A reason for a limited war to emerge is because of the necessity to prevent another war
Full mobilization of all resources was difficult and couldn't be done. Resources like weapons, targets, mobilization were limited

Combatants aim to take control of the political and legal institutions of the state
