Module 2 Unit 3 Task 1 Action plan for identifying and helping a struggling student by Victoria Boynton
First if possible get feedback from previous teachers to see if their is any problems that need to be identified. Also meet with parents to see if they have any concerns.
As we continue through the year begin to look for students who display issues in class or who appear to be struggling. These can be.

Implement extra help with the student in class in the form of extra worksheets, one on one teaching (if possible), extra support for things like tests and more difficult assignments. Also give more direct and personal teaching style. Make sure to give enough tiime to see if this is working. Is it working?
Yes
student is integrated back into the classroom but teachers should keep a close eye on their progress
No
Make contact with parents and the Head of Year and Principals and any onsite specialists. Discuss possible problems the student is facing and make an action plan on how to support them. Begin to collect work to monitor the child's progress. Give time for the student to adapt to the changes implemented after the meeting.
Is it working?
Yes
Student can continue learning with adapted support. Teachers should watch for any changes in behavior or school work.
No
Contact parents and school administraton to suggest reaching out to local authorities to request more support , guidance, and funding.
