Reparations
Major powers agreed that Germany had to pay
reparations to the Allies for the damage caused by the war.

Colonies
Former Germany colonies became mandates controlled by the League of Nations. (It meant that France and Britain controlled them).
League of Nations
Previous peace keeping methods failed so the League of Nations was set up as an international "police force"
Germany was not invited to join the league until it had shown that it was a peace-loving country. (1926)
Territories in Europe

In the east, West Prussia and Posen were given to Poland
(East Prussia was now cut off from the rest of Germany).

There was a 'plebiscite' in Schleswig, and the north went to Denmark.
The territory that Germany had taken from Russia when it won the war in the east in 1917 was set up as new nation states.
War guilt

Seen by Germany as extremely harsh as it consider that blame should be shared because there were other causes that led to the outbreak of WW1 (Militarism, Nationalism, etc...).

Size and power of German army was a major concern of all the powers, especially France.
